Staying at Little Trevothan Camping and Caravan Park  puts you at the heart of the Lizard Peninsula - a place where "old Cornwall" still exists.  While the famous Flambards Theme Park has now permanently closed, the area has leaned even further into its strengths: incredible nature, hands-on farm experiences, and wild adventures.

Here is your ultimate guide to the best family-friendly activities within easy reach of Coverack, Cornwall

✅ Quick Picks: Top 3 Family Must-Dos

  • Best for Animal Lovers: Cornish Seal Sanctuary (Gweek)
  • Best for Treats: Roskilly’s Farm (St Keverne)
  • Best for Adventure: Kayaking Coverack Bay

🍦 Roskilly’s Organic Farm (St Keverne)

Distance from Little Trevothan: 5 minutes

You can’t stay here without a trip to Roskilly’s. It’s a real, working Cornish farm where the entry is free, and the ice cream is legendary.

  • Why kids love it: Meeting the Jersey cows, feeding the goats, and the "Croust House" restaurant.
  • Little Trevothan Tip: Take the woodland walk down to the ponds before you get your ice cream—it burns off just enough energy for a double scoop!

🦭 The Cornish Seal Sanctuary (Gweek)

Distance from Little Trevothan: 20 minutes
This is a rescue, rehabilitation, and release centre for grey seal pups. It’s educational, heart-warming, and very interactive.

  • What’s New: Look out for their 2026 "Puffin Patrol" and "Junior Marine Life Ranger" events.
  • Little Trevothan Note: This is the top-rated wildlife attraction on the Lizard Peninsula.  Discount Vouchers are available for 10% off per person - see HERE for details.

🛶 Water Sports in Coverack Bay

Distance from Little Trevothan:  2 minutes
Coverack is famous for its crystal-clear water. Coverack Windsurfing & Adventure offers paddleboarding, kayaking, and windsurfing in the sheltered bay.

  • Best for: Older kids and teens who want a bit of a thrill.
  • Little Trevothan Tip: Get in touch with Robin and Chris early to book the best spots!

🏖️ The "Big Three" Family Beaches

You are spoilt for choice, but these three offer the best family facilities:

  1. Poldhu Cove: Famous for its hot chocolate at the beach café and excellent surf school.
  2. Kennack Sands: Features a large area of sand and great rock pools for budding explorers.
  3. Kynance Cove: Stunning turquoise water and caves.

Little Trevothan Tip: It gets very busy in high season - aim for an early morning visit.

📡 Poldhu Marconi Centre & Lizard Lighthouse

For a bit of "stealth learning," visit the spot where the first transatlantic radio signal was sent.

  • The Vibe: Interactive science and history with incredible views.
  • The Adventure: Visit the Lizard Lighthouse Heritage Centre to learn about maritime history
  • Little Trevothan Top Tip: The Lizard Lifeboat Station nearby—seeing the massive Tamar-class lifeboat is always a hit with the kids.

🚂 Helston Railway

Distance from Little Trevothan: 15 minutes

A wonderful hidden gem for families.  This is a volunteer-run heritage railway where you can ride in vintage carriages through the beautiful Cornish countryside. It’s a nostalgic trip that grandparents and kids will enjoy together.

  • Why it works: It's charming and just the right length of time for younger children.
  • Little Trevothan Tip: Don't forget that Discount Voucher to receive up to £4 off!

🌧️ Rainy Day Options

If the Cornish "liquid sunshine" makes an appearance, head toward Helston:

  • Ferdi’s Indoor Play: Located at the old Flambards site, this is a massive indoor soft play area that is perfect for burning off energy.  Ideal for your little ones.
  • Tide Climbing, Helston - With over 70 Boulder problems to solve, 2 Kilter Boards and 1 Cave Room, the new climbing centre in Helston is proving to be a great hit.
  • Flora Cinema, Helston: Known for its intimate atmosphere compared to large multiplexes, the Flora Cinema occupies a historic building, previously a Baptist Chapel.  There a two screening rooms and always something for the children during holidays.
  • Museum of Cornish Life (Helston): A surprisingly huge museum with thousands of objects from Cornwall's past. It's quirky, engaging, and entirely undercover.

A Little Piece of Heaven
My 5th consecutive year at Little Trevothan and that should say it all. Clean, tidy, friendly and the owners are a joy to deal with. They have a separate play area for kids so no balls hitting your tent! There's a quiet time to cut out late noise. It's not Butlins, it's just peace and tranquility, and perfectly located for getting about.

Excellent Site with Everything you Need
Very hiker-friendly site with all the facilities you need on a tough hike on the coast path. Spotless facilities, plenty of showers, loos, washing up sinks and a laundry. Lots of helpful details such as washing line, little shop, device charging and lovely well looked after level pitches. Really kind touches were providing me with a table and chair, as a backpacker these little luxuries make a huge difference. It is close to the coast path and you pass another campsite, but I felt it was worth a little extra walk for such a lovely stay.

We Never Want to Go Home
Our 5th stay here, absolutely love this place and location. Spotlessly clean and comfy warm caravans. If you want restful relaxing quiet holidays this site is ideal. Had some lovely days out at Mevagissey, Falmouth and Lizard. Some great food eaten at Wavecrest Cafe, Roskillys Farm and in Coverack The Paris pub and the Lifeboat House never disappoint. Thank you.
