WHY WE LOVE COVERACK!

If you are looking for a picturesque Cornish fishing village with a fabulous community and something to offer everyone, then you must discover Coverack located on the eastern side of the Lizard Peninsula, an area of outstanding natural beauty, and the southern-most area of the country.  You will not be disappointed!

Coverack (Porthkovrek in Cornish, meaning cove of the stream) is one of those places holidaymakers dream of with its thatched cottages, crescent shaped sheltered beach in a delightful cove, sparkling blue water and colourful fishing boats bringing in the day’s catch.

The beach here has plenty of sand at low tide and being sheltered makes it a great spot for windsurfing, kayaking and paddle boarding. Historically this part of the coastline was notorious for shipwrecks at the Mannacles reef and Lowland Point, making the area popular for diving. The beach is dog friendly all year round.

Coverack beach is one of the few places in the world where the Earth’s crust, mantle, and Moho boundary between them can be seen.  The harbour was constructed in 1724 from the resulting local green serpentine.

Coverack is a thriving community and a packed programme of events is coordinated each year, including a charity Christmas Day swim which has been supported for more than 50 years!  With great places to eat, quaint shops to visit, water sports or lazing on the beach, walking the South West Coast Path, or just enjoying a pint of Tribute and a bag of chips on the harbour wall, you will love it here!

Have a look below for lots more information, and we look forward to welcoming you to our lovely part of the country soon.

Cornwall Roadtrip - Porthbean and Coverack

We are often asked how long does the walk to Coverack take.  Well it is just under a mile and takes around 20 minutes to get down (and a little longer to come back up again!)  Here is a video taken by a couple staying with us in 2020 showing their walk down the lane into Coverack.  Pick up the Coverack part of the video at 7:08 minutes onwards.

What our customers say

Excellent Site with Everything you Need
Very hiker-friendly site with all the facilities you need on a tough hike on the coast path. Spotless facilities, plenty of showers, loos, washing up sinks and a laundry. Lots of helpful details such as washing line, little shop, device charging and lovely well looked after level pitches. Really kind touches were providing me with a table and chair, as a backpacker these little luxuries make a huge difference. It is close to the coast path and you pass another campsite, but I felt it was worth a little extra walk for such a lovely stay.

We Never Want to Go Home
Our 5th stay here, absolutely love this place and location. Spotlessly clean and comfy warm caravans. If you want restful relaxing quiet holidays this site is ideal. Had some lovely days out at Mevagissey, Falmouth and Lizard. Some great food eaten at Wavecrest Cafe, Roskillys Farm and in Coverack The Paris pub and the Lifeboat House never disappoint. Thank you.

A Little Piece of Heaven
My 5th consecutive year at Little Trevothan and that should say it all. Clean, tidy, friendly and the owners are a joy to deal with. They have a separate play area for kids so no balls hitting your tent! There's a quiet time to cut out late noise. It's not Butlins, it's just peace and tranquility, and perfectly located for getting about.

Absolutely Amazing Camping
Absolutely lovely place. Small camping with large, flat pitches. Very quiet, clean toilets, big washing up area and launderette. Nice playground. Fire pits and barbecues allowed. Shop available on site. Staff friendly and helpful. Perfect location for sightseeing - fairly close to popular tourist destinations.
